The Albatross

The Laysan Albatross is close to joining the list of creatures threatened with extinction. The adult birds regurgitate plastic to their chicks who gradually starve to death on the nest. The islands around Midway in the Pacific are littered with plastic encased in the decaying ribcages of the dead chicks. Originally made in 2007 it, sadly, remains a very relevant piece. https://oceanconservancy.org/wildlife-factsheet/laysan-albatross/.

This life size sculpture with a 2 metre wingspan is constructed from willow, handmade paper, and plastic gathered in just 5 minutes on a UK beach.
